I can copy edit your fiction manuscript and some non-fiction as well. I can also look over your social media and other promotional material: websites, bookmarks, book jacket copy, etc. in order to help make them polished and professional. Copy editing involves checking for typos, inconsistencies, basic punctuation and grammar, word usage, and sentence clarity and flow.
I’m an experienced critiquer and contest judge. I’ll read your story and give you feedback on the story structure, point of view, characters, dialogue and narrative style. I cover all aspects of writing craft, focusing on making your story as powerful and professional as it can be.
Here are testimonials from clients whose work I’ve copy edited:
I’ve had the pleasure of working with editor Chris Devlin on a number of
projects, from short stories to novels. She invariably does an excellent
job and is very reliable and professional. Her copyediting is always
accurate. In addition, she often has helpful big picture
suggestions–which can help authors avoid problems. I recommend her

You can look over how I work and decide if it’s for you. If you feel we’re a good fit, I’ll send you an invoice for payment by check. Depending on the length and complexity of your manuscript, I’ll have your edited book back to you in 2-4 weeks.
